This is showing a "guy" sweeping, which means he is doing something that is helpful around the house.

What our group thinks.

Why do women have to do all of the house work? Why do they have to cook and take care of their children while the father is at work. There are women that have a job and still take care of the whole house and their family. We think that husbands should step in and help out, it would make things better for everyone.

Symbolic Interactionism and Gender

This part is manly about how boys and girls learn to act the way they are "supposed to act."
Gender is taught everywhere you can think of ex:Mass media, teachers, parents, grandparents and almost anything you can think of.
Like when a child is born they either get a blue or a pink blanket. Girl is pink and boy is blue, but why is that? What if a mother wanted her daughter to have a blue blanket and not a pink?
Then as the children grow up the girls play with dolls and they  boys play with trucks.
So as you can see the child starts learning behaviors about how they should act.
Our group thinks that parents are the main part in expressing on how the children should act, like the daughter helping to cook and clean, while the son is helping the father change a tire or something.

Conflict Theory and Gender

Men try hard to prevent women to gain access to political, social and economic resources. By doing this men will feel stronger and they can also keep their status quo. Conflict theorists see that some of the gender roles have been outdated. Also according to the conflict theorists, women that prefer careers in fields formerly made for men have every right to make the choice if they want to do it or not, even if it isnt functional for the society.

Gender Identity

Sociologists believe that when girls and boys are younger they will pick up roles and learn to behave like their parents. Most of the time the girl will take after her mother;playing with a kitchen, picking things up ect. Boys will most of the time follow their father and
do things with tools and act tuff.
It could also be genetic like if the mother always is cleaning or cooking may e the daughter will end up doing that. Still some people ask themselves, why is it that the females cook and clean while the males work and provide?

Information (Men vs. Women)

  • What defines men or women? The fact that women do the cleaning, does that mean the men can't? Sex:That is what defines men and women, males are usually more aggressive and the provider. That means the males are usually out working and making money for their family. The females are usually the ones that are inside at home, doing the cooking, cleaning, and taking care of their family.
  • Who says that only women have to do all of the house work. If men were to step in it would make things nice and easy.

National (men vs. women) Cleaning Convention!

This is a day where all the men and women will get together in a hoarders house and see who can clean it the fastest! The men will get the down stairs and the women will get the up stairs. This will be the true test to see who can clean more and do things faster, or if the men will just wimp out and leave.

Question (men vs. women)

Do men and women share chores equally? How does society see it?

Mission Statement

The mission of men vs. women is to make a difference in households. We think that house work should be equal among men and women.
We want to inform all the men that women shouldn't have to do all of the house work and take care of their children.
We believe that men and women should have equal rights in the house hold. If things are equal it would make things easier for everyone.
In order for things to be equal we could get all the men together and have classes and another thing that would help with this is having more shows that show men doing the work instead of the women.
